    Insulated fuel assembly core with plurality of fuel monoliths, exhaust support plate, exhaust shield assembly, and insulation layer in which the plurality of fuel monoliths are located axially along a longitudinal axis and each of the plurality of fuel monoliths has a shape of an eccentric cylinder and a composition including a fissionable fuel component. Channels in the exhaust support plate are oriented so that propellant gas flow through the exhaust support plate does not impinge the exhaust shield assembly. The insulated fuel assembly core is manufactured by forming a tensioned fuel monolith stack mandrel assembly using mandrels spacers and internal tensioning components and forming an insulation layer on an outer surface of the tensioned fuel monolith stack mandrel assembly by mandrel winding. The insulated fuel assembly core can be incorporated into a fuel assembly of nuclear propulsion fission reactor structure of, for example, a nuclear thermal propulsion engine.

    Organometallic radiation resist compositions are described based on tin ions with alkyl ligands. Some of the compositions have branched alkyl ligands to provide for improved patterning contrast while maintaining a high degree of solution stability. Blends of compounds with distinct alkyl ligands can provide further improvement in the patterning. High resolution patterning with a half-pitch of no more than 25 nm can be achieved with a line width roughness of no more than about 4.5 nm. Synthesis techniques have been developed that allow for the formation of alkyl tin oxide hydroxide compositions with very low metal contamination.

    A removable tinted window panel system for an aircraft cockpit may include unique tinted panels and panel brackets which are easily installed and removed allowing full compliance with FAA regulations. The tinted panels, when installed, block 99.9% of UV radiation, reduce glare by up to 70%, reduce heat from solar energy up to 47% and thereby improve overall cockpit environment and pilot comfort. The panels allow the pilot to selectively block the sun when needed to remove glare and to remove the discomfort of being exposed to direct sunlight coming from the side windows. The panels reduce pilot fatigue, reduce eye strain and increase pilot performance and comfort and most of all improve flying safety.

    An apparatus for measuring liquid volume in a container includes a plurality of light sources for emitting electromagnetic radiation (EMR) toward the container, a plurality of sensors optically coupleable to the plurality of light sources, each sensor of the plurality of sensors for detecting the EMR emitted by at least a portion of the plurality of light sources, a temperature sensor for measuring at least one temperature associated with a liquid in the container, and at least one processor for receiving data representative of the portion of the detected EMR from each of the plurality of sensors, comparing the at least one measured temperature to a temperature guideline to identify any temperature events associated with the received data; normalizing the received data based on any temperature events associated with the received data; and converting the normalized data into a signature representative of the EMR detected by the plurality of sensors.

A radiation irradiation amount distribution measurement device (100) is configured to include: a scintillator module (12) that is detachably attached to a housing (10), and that emits fluorescence (F) when irradiated with radiation from a radiation therapy apparatus; and a camera (14) that is detachably attached to the housing (10), and that captures the fluorescence (F) from the scintillator module (12). In the scintillator module (12), both main surfaces of a scintillator (16) are sandwiched by transparent resin plates (18a, 18b) having a thickness of 1-10 cm, and markers for identifying a detection surface of the scintillator (16) are formed along the four corners of the transparent resin plate (18a) that is arranged closer to the camera (14).
