Slovenia's GEN energija has published an analysis concluding that the proposed JEK2 new nuclear project location is suitable from a seismic activity point of view - and also outlined a series of studies it aims to publish before a referendum is held on nuclear energy later this year.

The installation of the steam generators in the designed position at unit 4 of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in India's Tamil Nadu state was completed on 19 June, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom announced.

A memorandum has been signed relating to the construction project for a Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology in Vietnam - with discussions also held over the future options of large-scale and small modular reactors in the country.

The installation of 380 foundation piles - each 33 metres in length - has been completed in the construction pit for the Pallas research reactor in Petten, the Netherlands. Pallas is planned to replace the existing High Flux Reactor. 

The revamped project plan for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor aims for "a scientifically and technically robust initial phase of operations, including deuterium-deuterium fusion operation in 2035 followed by full magnetic energy and plasma current operation".

The dome has been hoisted into place on the reactor building of unit 4 at the Xudabao nuclear power plant in a single stage process, China National Nuclear Corporation announced. The process has only been used once before - at unit 3 of the same plant.

The first of the freshly delivered fuel assemblies is expected to be loaded into Kursk II's unit 1 later this year.
