(12-23 Oct. 09) The RCA Regional Office (RCARO), which director is Dr. Mun-Ki Lee, holds 2009 Regional Training Workshop on Research Reactor Utilization and Radiation Application Technology jointly with Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) between October 12th and 23rd, 2009 in INTEC, Daejeon, Republic of Korea.
At this workshop, 17 trainees from 10 RCA member states (MSs) participate in its 2-week program that includes lectures on research reactor utilization and radiation application technology and field trips to the KAERI’s research reactor called Hanaro, Jeong-eup Advanced Radiation Technology Institute (ARTI), and Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences (KIRAMS).
The 17 trainees are able to participate to this event by approval of RCARO/KAERI and recommendation from 10 RCA MS National Representatives out of 12 MS National Representatives to whom KAERI initially sent an invitation this summer.
The director of RCARO, Dr. Mun-Ki Lee expressed his wish in his congratulatory remarks on the first day that the workshop would be helpful for RCA member states to establish policies on nuclear application and relevant technology development and to review where they stand in terms of technology level by sharing experiences and technical status on research reactor utilization and radiation application. And he also mentioned that this event is one of the RCARO's major programs; and the office plans to further develop it through active assistance; and he hope that the trainees could help promote the workshop when they go back to their country after finishing it so that many others could be invited with interest in the future.
This workshop is the 2nd event following the 1st one held in November, 2008, when 11 trainees from 8 RCA members states participated.
