The purpose of the course is to provide the participants from RCA Member States with the additional information on clean air legislation and regulations, health and welfare effects of air pollution, and approaches in applying analytical data generated by nuclear analytical techniques in support of air quality management planning and implementation process.
The IAEA, through RCA framework, has been actively promoting the use of nuclear-based methods to characterise particulate air pollutants. To this end, various training programme for sampling and analysis have been carried out in the past years and the participants have significantly built their capabilities. To fully integrate these measurement methods, the resulting data and the application of receptor models for source identification and apportionment into
a process to develop air quality management strategies and related policy, it is necessary to provide these individuals additional information on approaches to applying these methods in a policy context.
