Professor Vuong Huu Tan, Chairman of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission (VAEC) and the VAEC delegation visited RCARO on 27 April 2005 and met by Mr Kun-Mo Choi, Director of RCARO, and the staff. Chairman Tan was briefed on RCARO activities and on the matters arising from the 27th Meeting of National RCA Representatives that was held in early April in Malaysia. Chairman Tan expressed their keen interest in RCARO programmes and pledged to participate more actively in RCARO initiated projects.

Chairman Tan expressed appreciation to RCARO for providing a Co-60 radiotherapy unit to Viet Nam that is expected to greatly contribute to the treatment of malignance tumor patients in their country. He also mentioned that since the year of 2006 will mark the 30th anniversary of VAEC establishment, they hope to undertake some meaningful events for the RCA Member States' sake. Mr Le Doan Phac, Director, Department of International Cooperation, VAEC, and Mr Nguyen Hao Quang, Director, Center for Radiation Protection and Environment Monitoring, Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology, VAEC were among others of the VAEC delegation.
