IAEA/RCA Regional Training Course (RTC) on "HYSPLIT Back Trajectory Techniques Applied to Regional Data and Key Transboundary Events" will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam in 14-18 August 2006 in cooperation with the Government of Vietnam through Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (INST) and Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission (VAEC).

One of the purposes of the training course is to familiarize the participants with the methods applied for identification of local and transboundary events. A special emphasis will be placed on using meteorological data to improve interpretation of source apportionment results.
The training course will include lectures on introduction to boundary layer meteorology, examination of data and source apportionment results, back trajectory calculations, local meteorological methods, and introduction to trajectory ensemble methods. The lectures will be supplemented by demonstrations and practical calculations carried out for the analytical and meteorological data collected by the participants under the project.
