IAEA/RCA Regional Meeting to finalize ISED (Indicators for Sustainable Energy Development) analysis will be held in Manila, the Philippines in 2-6 October 2006 in cooperation with the government of the Philippines through Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI)

The IAEA is engaging in implementing an RCA project titled “Tracing future sustainable development paths through nuclear and other energy options” for 2005-06 to help RCA Member States in elaborating national sustainable energy strategies, establishing national energy indicators using IAEA’s framework ISED, conducting national studies to assess the role of nuclear power in achieving sustainable energy development and providing recommendations to the national authorities.

The meeting is expected to provide information required for finalizing the national energy indicators by linking their historical evolution with the future trends under various energy scenarios and evaluating compatibility of alternative paths with sustainable energy development, and to review interim reports of the national studies.
