The IAEA, In order to produce quality projects for 2007-08 Technical Co-operation (TC) cycles, in particular the regional projects that do not fall under RCA, is organizing a Consultation Meeting for National Liaison Officers of Member States in Asia and the Pacific is arranged in Beijing, China during 26-28 June 2006.
The IAEA's TC projects for the developing IAEA Member States are generally categorized into National Projects for each Member State, regional projects that should address regional benefits, and inter-regional projects. Among them, the regional projects have two facets, i.e. RCA and non-RCA projects. RCA projects are formulated and implemented reflecting the fundamental requirements by the RCA Member States with basic emphasis on the radiation and radioisotope application technologies, while non-RCA projects cover a broader aspects of the peaceful uses of nuclear technology under the IAEA guidance. The Meeting in Beijing is expected to make priorities of the regional projects, to confirm the participation by the Member States in the projects, and to ascertain participating Government's commitment to the regional projects.
It is also expected that when viewing the future projects, the newly developed IAEA's PCMF (Programme Cycle Management Framework) IT platform will be considered for better facilitation.
