Dr. W. Abeyewickreme (Phd), Senior Lecturer, Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, has assumed duties as the Chairman of Atomic Energy Authority, Sri Lanka as of May 2007.

Dr. Abeyewickreme has specialization in applications of nuclear technology for diagnostic methods in vector borne diseases.
