The major objective of this project is to improve patients’ prognoses through more effective and precise diagnostic techniques that derive from clinical applications of PET technologies. The project will enable RCA MSs to 1) understand the physiological and biochemical aspects of PET images for a more effective image interpretation and diagnosis, 2) to understand the role of PET in decision-making for therapeutic strategies, in particular, in cancer patients, and 3) to provide nuclear medicine physicians in RCA MSs with a regionally harmonized training on the effective operation of PET/CT scanners and guidance on harmonized QA/QC programmes for clinics.
