In cooperation with the Government of Korea through Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), the IAEA/RCA Advanced Regional Training Course on Application of IAEA Analytical Tools for Evaluation of Sustainable Energy Strategies for Addressing Climate Change Issues was held on 19-30 May 2008 at the International Nuclear Training and Education Center of the KAERI, Daejeon, Korea.
The IAEA has implemented regional projects to help the Member States to strengthen their local capabilities to formulate long-term energy strategies compatible with their sustainable development goals and to analyze impacts of possible climate control mechanisms in the post-Kyoto period by providing training to the Member States on application of the IAEA’s analytical tool, MESSAGE, for formulation and evaluation of sustainable energy strategies for addressing climate change issues in a more fundamental way.
