The Project Stakeholder Workshop of the RCA-UNDP Project on Post-tsunami Environment Impact Assessment will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 18-21 August 2008 with participation of the National Project Coordinators from the Tsunami-affected Member States, some invited experts, end-users, and the RCARO. This Workshop is organized by the RCA Regional Office and hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Atomic Energy Authority of Sri Lanka.
The major objectives of the Workshop are (1) to update the results of the work being conducted in the Member States who were hit by the 2004 tsunami of the Indian Ocean, in comparison with the progress previously reviewed at the Progress Review Meeting held on 22-25 October 2007, Phuket, Thailand, and (2) to discuss the obtained data and review the overall progress and plans of the RCA-UNDP project including drafting of expected outcomes into a final report and reflecting inputs from relevant experts and end-users on how best to share the outcomes of the project, thereby eliciting meaningful results for the Project Final Meeting scheduled on November 2008 in Xiamen, China.
