The combined meeting, held 16-20 March 2009 in Daejeon, ROK, was to wrap up the RCA project RAS/8/106 on “Radiation Processing Applications for Health and the Environment” and initiate the new RCA project RAS/8/106 “Supporting Radiation Processing of Polymeric Materials for Agricultural Applications and Environmental Remediation”.

After reviewing the past project achievements of RAS/8/106, the meeting drew up the work plan for the RAS/8/109 of the 2009-2011 budget cycle, including national plans of Member States. The RAS/8/106 achievements include development of 24 new products and commercialization of 7 new products, to be followed up in the future RAS/8/109 work plan. The meeting also confirmed the mutual benefits of RCA-FNCA cooperation and supported several proposals from FNCA.
