Project on Supporting the Adoption of Electron Beam Technology and 

its Applications in Areas of Food and Agriculture, Industry, Human Health and Environment Treatment

The first project coordination meeting under the Project on Supporting the Adoption of Electron Beam Technology and its Applications in Areas of Food and Agriculture, Industry, Human Health and Environment Treatment was held on 12-15 December 2023, in Bangkok, Thailand, inviting over eighty (80) participants including the representatives from the RCA Regional Office, National Project Coordinators of twenty-one (21) RCA Government Parties, experts from the US, and the IAEA.

This event was the launching event of the new partnership project to be implemented for the next five (5) years under the partnership between the RCA Regional Office and Office of Radiological Security (ORS) of the United States Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). This new project is a follow-up of the successful workshop held in November 2022 on the use of eBeam/X-ay co-hosted by the NNSA and RCARO. The project aims to improve the quality of environment and living conditions of the Asia-Pacific region through supporting the Electron Beam (eBeam) infrastructure building and facilitation of its applications. 

The meeting reviewed and set up a detailed work plan and shared the status and needs of the region in regards to the adoption of the technology and facilitating its applications. This event also included a technical session on the trends of the technology use and technical tour to the relevant facilities of the host country, Thailand.
