The IAEA/RCA Regional Training Course on 'The Role of Nuclear Power and Other Energy Options in Competitive Electricity Markets' will be held in Daejeon (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute), Korea, 4-22 August 2003 as planned.

The purpose of this training course is (i) to provide training in the use of the IAEA's new model, namely 'Model for Energy Supply Systems and their General Environmental Impacts' (MESSAGE) and its application to various scenarios reflecting exogenous factors such as environmental impacts and the economic implications of energy/electricity market restructuring; (ii) to discuss the concepts and theory required for incorporating such external factors into energy and power sector analysis; and (iii) to discuss how to apply sound judgement about the choice of model and scenario structure most appropriate for analysis addressing these issues. For further contact, Dr. Man-Ki Lee of KAERI (mklee@kaeri.re.kr) and Dr. Nam, Kee Young (K.Y.Nam@iaea.org).
