IAEA/RCA Regional Training Course on Experimental Research Reactor Physics originally scheduled to take place at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, India in 12-23 January 2004 was postponed to 15-26 March 2004. The aim of the training course is to present the subjects in a cogent and systematic manner and at a level such that the relatively young persons with a few years experience in the field will develop a better appreciation of different techniques employed in the measurement of various physics parameters and relevant thermal hydraulic considerations; and to contribute effectively to the safe operation of new reactors in their respective countries.
Broadly, the course will cover the following subjects:
(i) Start-up of a new reactor or start-up after a prolonged outage and associated measurements
(ii) Neutron flux and spectrum measurements at experimental/irradiation positions
(iii) Reactivity related measurements like worth of control and shutdown devices, xenon poisoning, reactivity coefficients, etc.
(iv) Core thermal hydraulic aspects
