The 5th RCARO Advisory Committee (AC) was held on 11 April 2004 at Holiday Inn Hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan, prior to the 26th Meeting of National RCA Representatives that are scheduled in 12-15 April 2004 at the same venue.
The AC members participated were representatives of Australia, China, the Philippines, Korea and the IAEA/RCA Coordinator. India was unable to participate. The current RCA Chair, Sri Lanka, and the in-coming RCA Chair, Pakistan, also attended.
The AC meeting recommended that NRM would formally endorse the RCARO initiated new programmes, i.e., the Post-doc Fellowship Programme, the KAIST Nuclear Engineering Master’s Degree Course and the KOICA Nuclear Medicine Internship Training Programme. The AC also fully supported the RCARO’s 2004 Work Plan and recommended endorsement by the NRM. The AC commended RCARO for the achievements during the past year in increasing RCA awareness and in promoting RCA partnerships. The meeting elected Dr John F Easey, Senior Principal Researcher, ANSTO (on behalf of National RCA Representative of Australia, Ron Cameron) as the new Chair of RCARO AC. The meeting recognized the contributions to the development of RCARO by the past Chair, Prof. Naiyyum Choudhury, former Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and the National RCA Representative of Bangladesh.
