Regional Training Workshop (26-30 April) and International Conference (26-27 April) on Helicobacter Pylori will be held at Breath Mat Lab, Nuclear Oncology and Radiotherapy Institute (NORI) (Workshop) and Hotel Marriot (Seminar), Islamabad, Pakistan. The event will be jointly organized by PAEC (Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission), IAEA and HEC (Higher Education Commission). The seminar/workshop aims to update the knowledge concerning H. Pylori, in particular, the use of C-13 Urea Breath Test (UBT) technology to researchers, epidemiologists and clinicians.

Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori) is a bacterium that causes chronic inflammation (gastritis) of the inner lining of the stomach in humans. The bacterium is also the most common cause of ulcers worldwide that could associate with stomach cancer and a rare type of lymphocytic tumor of the stomach. Considering the important need to cope with H. Pylori in the region, the seminar/workshop package will include theory and practice pertaining to the use of non-invasive C-13 UBT, hands-on training on training on performing the C-13 UBT, demonstration of analysis of samples and interpretation of data, demonstration of instrumentation involved and so on. It is also expected that the seminar/workshop will provide a forum for networking at both national and international level for research and services involving H. Pylori.
