Prof. Rohini Hewamanna was reappointed by the government of Sri Lanka as the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka's Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) as of 8 July 2004 after more than two months away from AEA due to recent governmental reshuffling. Prof. Hewamanna has served as the 5th Chairperson of AEA and during her tenure, she has also served as the Chair of 25th Meeting of National RCA Representatives and 32nd RCA General Conference Meeting. The reappointment of Prof. R Hewamanna as the 6th Chairperson of AEA is expected to further enlightening of Sri Lanka AEA's long involvement with IAEA/RCA activities. With the reappointment, she has dual capacity as the Chairperson of AEA and as Head of the Department of Nuclear Science, University of Colombo in which she has maintained a long association.
