FAO/IAEA/RCA Strategic Meeting on Nuclear Techniques for Rice Improvement in Asia will be held in Tokyo and Tsukuba Japan in 4-7 November 2004. The objective of this strategic meeting is (1) to provide a platform for rice scientists working on rice improvement by using mutation techniques to gain up-to-date information on advanced technologies, new horizons and frontiers in rice research; (2) to exchange views and information on mutation techniques for rice improvement (3) to raise public awareness of the success and usefulness of mutation techniques in rice improvement and functional genomics in Asia.
The meeting will be held in conjunction with the World Rice Research Conference (WRRC) for the first two days, and present their work on the third day during the IAEA/RCA/FAO Strategic Meeting, a special WRRC session. This will be followed by another one and half day presentation, field visit and discussion on strategic topics in the field of mutation induction at the background of most recent rice research development and reach a consortium of future directions.
