Mr Md. ElBaradei, Director General of IAEA came to Korea on 3 October 2004 for a 4-day visit. His visit this time to Korea is to attend at the 54th Pugwash Conference on Science and World Affairs that is being held during 4-9 October at Sheraton Walker Hill Hotel in Seoul. Mr ElBaradei is to address the Conference on 6 October. He met Mr H C Lee, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea on 4 October and exchanged views on mutual interest. Mr Md. ElBaradei will also meet Mr M Oh, the Deputy Prime Minister of Science and Technology.
 
The Pugwash Conference was motivated from the statement by A Einstein and B Russel on the nuclear weapon-free world in 1955. The first Conference was held at Pugwash in 1957, Canada.
