IAEA/RCA Human Health projects were extensively introduced by Prof. Takashi Nakano, the RCA Lead Country Coordinator for Human Health Thematic Sector, at KOICA supported Nuclear Medicine Internship Training Course. RCARO invited Prof. Nakano to Korea for a special lecture on IAEA/RCA Human Health Projects with emphasis on past achievements and future roadmap.
The KOICA-KIRAMS Nuclear Medicine Internship Training Programme, motivated by RCARO, began from 14 Oct. 2004 for a three-week event at KIRAMS (Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences) in Seoul. A total 13 medical professionals from BGD, CPR, INS, MON, MYA, PAK, PHI, SRL and VIE are participating in the training course. Prof. Nakano's special lecture was arranged by RCARO on the occasion of the visit of the participants to KAERI in Daejeon on 20 Oct. 04. Prof. Nakano also made a presentation on the recent trends in radiation oncology in Asia with particular highlight on Japan. Prior to the presentations, RCARO introduced on the IAEA/RCA programme and RCARO activities. The event is the second series of KOICA (Korea International Co-operation Agency) programme to support nuclear medicine capabilities in the region. The first such programme was organized last year October for three weeks in Korea with participation of 14 medical professionals from the region.
