Dr Reyad Kamel, Section Head (Acting) responsible for technical co-operation programme for East Asia and the Pacific region (TCPAS) of IAEA visited RCARO on 13 October 2003 and exchanged views on the current issues related to RCARO operation and management. The Section Head reassured the roles and functions of RCARO in increasing RCA awareness and in promoting RCA partnerships for the benefits of RCA Member States.

Dr R Kamel who has presently dual capacity as Country Officer of IAEA visited Korea for a mission to discuss IAEA’s on-going as well as future national technical co-operation projects. At a meeting with RCARO, he appreciated activities undertaken by Office up to present since its inception in March 2002 though it is yet in interim operational period to make necessary legal provisions for functioning in the host country. As to the possible extra-budgetary contribution by RCARO to future RCA projects that need further fund for implementation, he viewed that a proper mechanism could be developed to facilitate such financial contribution. He hoped that a competent new Director could be appointed next year when the current interim operation of RCARO ended.
