The final progress review meeting on the RCA project of process diagnostics and optimization in industry will be held in 6-10 December 2004 in Mumbai, India. The meeting will review and evaluate past achievements in this field and consider ways to transfer of new radioisotope techniques including the QC and accreditation to the end-users, and to discuss future strategies.

RCA projects on industrial application of radioisotope technology, that include radiotracer, sealed source and nucleonic gauge techniques, have been promoting routine applications of the technology for industrial process analysis and environmental problem diagnosis. In order to strengthen regional co-operation and capability for application of the technology and facilitate the working partnership with industrial end-users, two RCA regional projects, namely 'Process Diagnostics and Optimization in Petrochemical Indsutry' and 'Optimization of Materials in Industry using Online Bulk Analysis Techniques', have been implemented.

The meeting will review and evaluate achievements of the projects and lessons learned from their implementations. Strengthening of regional co-operation for the development and transfer of new radioisotope techniques including the quality control and accreditation will also be discussed. Based on the information and experience and regional needs, work plans and strategies for the near future regional projects will be discussed.
