The RCA Regional Office is hosting a Workshop on Accelerating the Adoption of e-Beam/X-ray technologies in Asia and the Pacific, from 14 to 18 November 2022 in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. The Workshop is being held in cooperation with the Office of Radiological Security (ORS) of the US Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration, who works to encourage the use of accelerator technologies and addresses both the information barrier and the lack of resources related to the technologies.

The Workshop is attended by around 130 participants, including researchers, scientists, decision makers and representatives from the industry and private sectors, from 23 countries.

The Workshop aims to provide actionable information to potential end-users and other stakeholders interested in adopting machine-based technologies. In addition to detailed discussion of the underlying opportunities and technology specifics, this workshop will focus on the economics of adoption in terms of capital costs, operating costs, choosing locations for building facilities and how to get an eBeam project off the ground. 

The event will also provide an occasion of a technical visit to the Advanced Radiation Technology Institute of KAERI and Radiation Instrument Standardization Research Center of Korean Association for Radiation Application of KARA where the participants can experience and observe the operation of various accelerators on site.
