Regional Training Course on Utilization of Research Reactor
5 August to 12 September 2025

The RCA Regional Office (RCARO), in collaboration with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), officially launched the on-site session of Regional Training Programme on Research Reactor Utilisation on September 2, 2025, in Daejeon, Republic of Korea.

The comprehensive 4-week programme follows a cutting-edge blended learning approach designed to maximize learning outcomes through three integrated components:

- Online webinars to build foundational knowledge (August 5–14)

- Individual assignments to deepen understanding (August 14–29)

- Face-to-face sessions to strengthen practical capabilities through hands-on training at KAERI (September 2–12)

Ten nuclear professionals from seven RCA member countries – Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, and Vietnam – are participating in this intensive programme, representing the next generation of research reactor specialists in the region.

On 2nd September 2025, the opening of the face-to-face sessions was held with opening remarks by Mr. Dae Ki Kim, Director of RCARO. He emphasized the programme's critical role in enhancing individual capabilities on research reactor utilization and encouraged active participation of the trainees.

The programme features an extensive 73-unit curriculum covering essential aspects of research reactor utilisation on research reactor operation, neutron beam utilization, neutron activation analysis (NAA) and radioisotope production.

The International HANARO Symposium, running concurrently with the training programme from September 10-12 at the Daejeon Convention Center, will provide additional opportunities for participants to engage with multinational researchers and learn about 25 years of HANARO research reactor achievements.
