The 10th Issue of the RCA Newsletter and the 3rd&4th Issue of the Issue Brief Now AvailableThe RCA Regional Office is pleased to announce the release of the 10th issue of the RCA Newsletter and the 3rd and 4th Issue of the RCA Issue Brief, now available on the RCA website. This 10th issue of the RCA Newsletter highlights the key outcomes of the 47th Meeting of National RCA Representatives held at the Nadi, Fiji. It also introduces the first-ever RCA initiative dedicated to strengthening women’s participation in the nuclear field. In addition, readers will find a special contribution from the National Project Coordinator of RAS1028 and other featured articles on women in nuclear. Issue Brief (3rd and 4th Issue) is on the Status of Non-Destructive Testing in Malaysia and Technical Cooperation for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region and Advancing Nuclear Science and Technology Education in the Asia-Pacific Region. Hands-on Session of Regional Training Course on Utilization of Research Reactor Successfully Launched in DaejeonRegional Training Course on Utilization of Research Reactor 5 August to 12 September 2025 The RCA Regional Office (RCARO), in collaboration with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), officially launched the on-site session of Regional Training Programme on Research Reactor Utilisation on September 2, 2025, in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. The comprehensive 4-week programme follows a cutting-edge blended learning approach designed to maximize learning outcomes through three integrated components: - Online webinars to build foundational knowledge (August 5–14) - Individual assignments to deepen understanding (August 14–29) - Face-to-face sessions to strengthen practical capabilities through hands-on training at KAERI (September 2–12) Ten nuclear professionals from seven RCA member countries – Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, and Vietnam – are participating in this intensive programme, representing the next generation of research reactor specialists in the region. On 2nd September 2025, the opening of the face-to-face sessions was held with opening remarks by Mr. Dae Ki Kim, Director of RCARO. He emphasized the programme's critical role in enhancing individual capabilities on research reactor utilization and encouraged active participation of the trainees. The programme features an extensive 73-unit curriculum covering essential aspects of research reactor utilisation on research reactor operation, neutron beam utilization, neutron activation analysis (NAA) and radioisotope production. The International HANARO Symposium, running concurrently with the training programme from September 10-12 at the Daejeon Convention Center, will provide additional opportunities for participants to engage with multinational researchers and learn about 25 years of HANARO research reactor achievements.
