RCARO Meeting with KIRAMS and Hospital 103 on Viet Nam Project

(28 Feb. 05) RCARO had a progress review meeting with staff members of KIRAMS (Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences) and a representative from Hospital 103 in Hanoi, Viet Nam on 28 Feb 2005 at KIRAMS in Seoul. The Co-60 Radiotherapy equipment that RCARO and KIRAMS transferred to Viet Nam has been already housed at Hospital 103 in Hanoi and installation work will begin from mid-March 2005. In an effort to train the medical staff and radiological physicist, KIRAMS invited Dr. Nguyen Danh Tanh, Department of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology of Hospital 103 for a few weeks training programme. It is planned that the Co-60 equipment will enter into full operation from April of this year for treatment of various cancer patients in Viet Nam. The Co-60 Radiotherapy Equipment Transfer Project has been initiated by from November 2003 and RCARO and VAEC in cooperation with KIRAMS.
