(26 June 07) A Workshop on the improvement of the RCA awareness and on the effective implementation of the RCA project for the Korea’s national RCA project coordinators was held from 26-27 June 2007 in Daecheon on the west coast of Korea in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Korea, the host government of the RCA Regional Office. Twenty three participants attended from various local nuclear related institutions such as the Korea Institute for Nuclear Safety (KINS), the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (KIRAMS), the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), the Korea Nuclear International Cooperation Foundation (KONICOF), MOST, and RCARO.

The participating project coordinators exchanged their views and effective ways to enhancing the implementation of the national RCA projects. The RCARO explained about the prospect of 2009-11 RCA projects which were prioritized at the 29th NRM and reiterated the roles and responsibilities of National Project Coordinators (NPCs) in line with the RCA Medium Term Strategies. Ideas and advice on the strategies to enhance RCA partnership and the roles and status of the RCARO were also sought.
