(30 June 2008) In order to enhance awareness of the RCA, a delegation of RCARO visited the Union of Myanmar. During the visit to the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) of the MOST in Nay Phi Taw on June 27, Dr Ko Ko Oo (NR of Myanmar), Director General of DAE, welcomed the delegation and discussed the activities of both sides. During the discussion, he showed appreciation and support toward the RCARO activities.

Before the meeting with the DAE, the delegation visited Yangon University (YU) and Yangon Technological University (YTU) on June 25 and met with Dr Tun Khin, Acting Rector of YU, Dr Mya Mya Oo, Rector of YTU, and related professors, separately. At the universities, Mr Ki-soo Yum, Administration Officer of the RCARO, made a presentation on the activities of RCARO and the faculty members there expressed keen interests in the RCARO initiated Nuclear Knowledge Preservation Programme.

On the way to Myanmar, the RCARO delegates visited Thailand and had a meeting with Ms Jindarom, Ms Prapraipit Suprarop from the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), and Ms Kanchalita Dechates from the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT) to discuss the on-going matters of the RCARO.
