On 15 December, the Director, Dr. Hee-Young Chun, and Technical Coordinator, Mr. Niran Chaimanee, of the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) visited RCARO, and discussed some cooperative matters focusing on partnership development between the two organizations, in particular, groundwater studies and application for the Tsunami Trust Fund offered by UNESCAP. The RCARO had visited CCOP in Bangkok last August and had prior talks for cooperation in said topics.

The CCOP, a regional organization separated from UNESCAP in 1966, organizes a “GeoCoast Induction Meeting” addressing a current status of coastal geo-hazards in the Southeast and East Asian Countries hosted by Korea Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) in Daejeon.
