The Representative of UNDP Korea, Mr. Zhe Yang, visited RCARO on 17 September 2009 in a context of monitoring the RCA/UNDP partnership project, “Post-tsunami Environmental Impact Assessment”. The RCA/UNDP partnership project was initiated by RCARO in 2006 and is to be completed by the end of this year.

The UNDP delegates were briefed with project background, implementation and results, followed by discussions focused on the follow-up issues of the project and partnership. The UNDP delegates also gave a visit to Hanaro Research Reactor in the KAERI campus to observe the neutron activation analysis (NAA) facility which is one of the various functions of the multi-purpose research reactor. The NAA technique has been widely used in the RCA Member States for analysis of trace elements in sediment samples taken at the tsunami stricken sites for the partnership project.
