5th FNCA Ministerial Level Meeting of Member Countries Nuclear Human Resources Development Highlighted 1 December 2004 at Melia Hotel, Hanoi, Viet Nam

The Fifth FNCA (Forum for Nuclear Co-operation in Asia) Ministerial Level Meeting will be held in Hanoi, Viet Nam on 1 December 2004. Science and technology ministers and senior officials from 9 FNCA member countries will discuss on how to co-operate in their efforts for nuclear human resources development in Asia. The ministerial level delegates will present nuclear research and development policy of their respective countries.

The FNCA MM (Ministerial Level Meeting) has been held annually at participating member countries but every another year in Japan. The participating countries are Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. They are at the same time all RCA Member States. At the 5th MM, in addition to the presentations by delegates from member countries on their nuclear R&D policy and FNCA activities, a round table discussion will focus on co-operation for nuclear human resources development in Asia and future prospect of FNCA activities. It is noted that currently FNCA has been implementing a total 11 co-operative projects amongst participating member countries. Prior to the MM, there will be a SOM (Senior Officials Meeting) of FNCA member countries that will review management and operation of FNCA activities as well as prepare the MM topics.
The Fifth FNCA MM and SOM are organized by the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan and supported by VAEC (Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission).
