The 6th FNCA (Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia) National Coordinators' Meeting will be held from 30 March to 1 April 2005 in Tokyo to review FNCA's on-going cooperative projects as well as to discuss FNCA future strategic policy. Supplementary cooperation between RCA and FNCA is also anticipated to converse at the meeting. Nine countries in Asia and the Pacific are participating in the FNCA activities.

The FNCA member countries are Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. Each participating member country designated a national coordinator. The FNCA national coordinators have been meet generally every March in Japan. The outcomes from the National Coordinators' Meeting will be reported to the FNCA Ministerial Level Meeting usually held in November for further consideration and endorsement. At present, FNCA has 8 individual on-going cooperative projects. They are (1) Utilization of research reactors (2) Application of radioisotopes and radiation for agriculture (3) Application of radioisotopes and radiation for medical care (4) Public information of nuclear energy (5) Human resources development (6) Industrial Application (7) Radioactive waste management, and (8) Nuclear safety culture. The meeting will particularly stress on the two new projects; 'Role of Nuclear Energy for Sustainable Development in Asia' and 'Applications and Uses of Positron Emission Tomography, Cyclotron and Radioisotope in Medicine', respectively.

Since RCA is also carrying out similar cooperative projects in such areas as research reactor, human health, agriculture, industry and nuclear safety, there have been strong suggestions that RCA and FNCA would develop supplementary cooperation for the benefit of the region.
