In order to prevent serious environmental problem caused by polymeric products waste, research on new uses for renewable plant-based products has been carried out in many R&D countries. In this context, IAEA have supported member states through RCA programmes that developed several biodegradable products based on radiation processed natural polymers. In order to continue and improve the previous accomplishment, new regional training course on “Recyclable Radiation Processed Polymeric Products” will be held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam in 9-13 May 2005.

This RCA training course will focus on transferring knowledge regarding perspective of radiation processing for recycling and recyclable polymers development and its manufacturing. Furthermore, fundamental research, economics, market studies, energy and environmental assessments will be touched upon during the course and also directions for research will also be defined. Throughout the course, awareness building in quality management as well as the economic and social aspects of radiation technology implementation will be emphasized.
