IAEA/RCA Final Review Meeting and Assessment Meeting of the Project on Investigating Environment and Water Resources in Geothermal Areas in Asia and the Pacific will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 25-29 October 2004. The main purpose of the meeting is to report and review results obtained in the whole period of the project implementation at the national and regional levels, to share knowledge and experiences in the application of isotope hydrology for investigations on geothermal systems and management of the environment, and to discuss and agree on measures of information dissemination and future issues of significance to geothermal development relevant to the application of isotope hydrology.
Countries in East Asia and the Pacific region are exploiting geothermal resources for electric power generation and/or for direct use of heat. The IAEA/RCA regional project on Investigating Environment and Water Resources in Geothermal Areas started in 2001, aiming at assisting Member States in conducting hydrogeological and geochemical investigations on geothermal areas using isotope techniques.
