IAEA/RCA Technical Meeting on Irradiation Technology for Radioisotope will be held in BATAN (National Nuclear Energy Agency), Serpong, Indonesia in 5-9 September 2005. The main objective of this technical meeting is to distribute the information on most advantageous techniques for production of radioisotopes.

In East Asia and the Pacific region, there are about 40 reactors and four new research reactor projects are being planned and implemented at different stages. In many of these research reactors, production of radioisotopes is the major mandate. Recently, in medical, industry and other field, the demand for application of radioisotope has been much increased. All RCA Member States that are able to produce radioisotopes have a desire to expand radioisotope production to meet their ever increasing demand.

This technical meeting will emphasize target preparation technology for solid and gaseous targets, safety analysis of targets, irradiation technology, flux monitoring techniques, optimization of irradiation parameters to maximize radioisotope yield, radiochemical processing methods, and so on. Through this technical meeting, it is expected for the participants to identify the ways to enhance the utilization of their facilities for producing radioisotope in larger quantity and better quality.
