Nuclear techniques, in particular the radiotracer techniques are widely and effectively used for detection and/or localization of leaks in industry systems thus bringing tremendous economic benefits. RCA with the technical and financial support from the IAEA has been carrying out industrial radiotracer application activities for many years and a regional training course to enhance the technical capability will be held in March 2006 in Sri Lanka.

The course will provide basic theories and practical applications of radioisotope techniques for leak detection and localization in industrial
systems, particularly in chemical and petrochemical industries where leakage of underground pipelines and heat exchangers is a great concern for quality operation of the industry.
