IAEA/RCA Project Progress Review Meeting (PRM) on Tumor Imaging using Radioisotopes (RIs) will be held in Perai Pulau Pinang, Malaysia from 15-19 January 2007 with the assistance of the Government of Malaysia through Penang Hospital. The IAEA/RCA Project on "Tumor Imaging Using Radioisotopes" is designed to improve the management of cancer patients by introducing radionuclide imaging techniques of Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) for cancer detection and monitoring the efficacies of therapies, including validating and developing protocols for sentinel lymphnode detection techniques in RCA Member States.
The Meeting will review the progress of the implementation of the above project and the feasibility and sustainability of the nuclear medicine technologies which have been introduced to participants of the RCA Member States in the regional training courses. The expected outputs are 1) achievement reports on the feasibility and sustainability of the nuclear medicine technologies which have been introduced to participants of the RCA Member States in the regional training courses as well as the project progress, 2) Revision of the work plan for 2007, and 3) Meeting report.
